Free Fundamental/Skills day and open pickup will be held on Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 @ Conestoga College.

Please note: These sessions are only for REGISTERED PLAYERS in the KWWRHL. A goalie instructor will be at the sessions for registered goalies

Skills sessions will be run by Eric Calder’s Skills Plus Hockey School. There will be two skills sessions and an open pick-up hockey session. This year we are not taking sign-ups ahead of time, but rather leaving it as an open drop-in for all sessions – you are welcome to take part in one, two or all three sessions.

We are pleased to be able to provide a new format for our skills night. This time we will be focusing on 2 separate sessions that all skill levels will be able to take part in. There will be two skills sessions and an open pick-up hockey session. This year we are not taking sign-ups ahead of time, but rather leaving it as an open drop-in for all sessions.

Session 1 - Power Skating Session: 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

• This session will focus on teaching forward and backward skating techniques -straight line, tight turns and cross-over skating bio-mechanics, pivoting, Maximize stride, proper balance, overall speed and power improvements

Session 2 - Stickhandling and Shooting Session: 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

• This session will focus on teaching the bio-mechanics of a variety of stickhandling manoeuvres, the wrist and snap shot, dekes and puck control. Increased focus on the third principle of teaching hockey, which is “offensive and defensive team tactics”. There will be several drills at the various stations that focus on working with a teammate or teammates.

Open Pickup: All skill levels - 9:00-10:00 p.m.
